Adult Training

Scouting provides a large number of training opportunities, both online and live.

Online training for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters is a combination of online and classroom instruction.   See the Committee Chair for schedule of classroom training put on my the District and Council.

Online training can done by:

  • Registering and entering the BSA training portal via MyScouting.org
  • Click Menu in the upper left of the screen.
  • Select My Training to transition to your training page.
  • Select Requirements for position specific training.
    • Scoutmaster
    • Assistant Scoutmaster
    • Troop Committee
    • Merit Badge Counselor
  • Select Training Center then Boy Scouting and Varsity for newer position specific training
    • Merit Badge Counselor Training
    • Scoutmaster Training
    • Troop Committee Training
  • Select Training Center then in the Supplemental Training you will find
    • Hazardous Weather Training – At least one adult must be current for all Outings.
    • Safe Swim Defense – Required for all swimming activities where the facility does not provide a trained lifeguard
    • Safety Afloat – Required for all boating activities
    • Trek Safely – Required for all backpacking and hiking events
    • Climb On Safely – Required for all climbing and rappelling events include private facilities.
    • Drive Safely – Required for all drivers transporting youth to any activity.
